West Texas Wellness Clinic provides hormonal evaluations to check for deficiencies in hormones such as estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, ,DHEA and thyroid hormones. We strive to supplement your hormonal levels until they are optimal.
Dr. Garcia has sought further training in hormone replacement therapy with bio-identical hormones, and is very comfortable in the treatment of post-menopausal syndromes in women and in the treatment of low testosterone in men.
Women in their 30’s and 40’s may also have hormonal deficiencies as well. We treat women for polycystic ovarian syndrom, or PCOS, with bio-identical progesterone, along with other medications such as metformin.
We also treat pre-menopausal women with testosterone replacement for low energy, low mood, and low sex drive.
MENOPAUSE
Women stop producing, for the most part, estradiol and progesterone when they go through menopause. These hormones protect women from heart disease and osteoporosis, among other conditions, before menopause and after a total hysterectomy.
Women can undergo night sweats, decreased sleep, fatigue, depression and decreased libido shortly after menopause. Several studies have shown harmful effects of synthetic hormones such as Premarin and Provera in the menopausal female.
We do not prescribe these medications, instead focusing on bio-identical estradiol and progesterone, as well as DHEA and testosterone if needed. Once you are started on the hormones, your levels will be checked periodically, and your dosages adjusted until you are at an optimal level. Of course, you should have yearly female exams and a mammogram if indicated.
Women also may choose to be treated with testosterone cream or injections for low energy and low libido.
Please call our office to set up an appointment for a hormonal evaluation.
LOW TESTOSTERONE IN MEN
Low testosterone levels in men, especially after age 40, are very common. However, there is no specific age at which testosterone levels begin to decrease.
Symptoms of low testosterone in men include
- Fatigue
- Irritability
- Decreased libido
- Erectile Dysfunction
- Weight gain
- Depression
If your levels are low, we offer either intramuscular injections (shots) every 2-4 weeks, or a testosterone cream which is applied once or twice a day, depending on your levels.
If you are started on a cream, your levels will be checked periodically until you reach an optimal level. In addition, you may need other prescribed supplements to feel better.
Testosterone replacement can make you feel better and slow the effects of aging as well.
